TheAssassin’s Creedfranchise has seen its fair share of romances and how different character’s relationships evolve, but this time, in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and due to having two protagonists, romantic relationships will be quite a bit different from anything players have experienced before.

From same-sex kinships to “more developed relationships” in and out of the romance area,NaoeandYasuke’s connections with other characters will be a “unique” feature engrained into Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Naoe And Yasuke Get Their Own Individual Romantic Relationships

According to YouTuberJorRaptor, who spoke with Assassin’s Creed Shadows associate narrative director Brooke Davies, Naoe and Yasuke will have a chance to explore more unique relationships and also “really get to know people”, which sounds like there will be a host of side characters we still haven’t seen, and could possibly not see until the game’s release.

Delving further into explaining what all this means, Davies expressed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows “is not like a dating simulator, we do have more serious relationships, a long-term relationship, to develop” while also adding that the duo will have “lighter romances” too, so maybe a couple of cheeky liaisons thrown in on their travels around Japan?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Boss Hopes Players Can Stay

LikeAssassin’s Creed OdysseyandValhalla, Naoe and Yasuke will also be able to have same-sex connections but, if you were hoping to see Yasuke wearing an awesome hood, there’s bad news. Davies said, “Yasuke with a hood? That would be cool. I don’t think we have a hood for Yasuke. He’s more the samurai type and he likes his helmet”. This will certainly suck for Valhalla lovers who requested that the hood could be kept on during combat, which was then finally added in, so maybe we will see the same here eventually.

Another feature that Davies explained is theweather systemin Shadows. The seasons will not only change before and after the main missions, but also while in the open world, but players won’t be able to change the seasons or time of day themselves like in the previous Assassin’s Creed games through meditation. There is also a continuous clock that ticks in the background while exploring Japan, so seasons will rotate based on the player’s playtime.
