Focus Entertainmentand Tindalos Interactive have announced via a new gameplay trailer that the real-time strategy game Aliens: Dark Descent will launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on June 20.

The debut trailer shows how players will manage human commandos against aliens and teaches how they will avoid permanent team losses and mental breakdowns. As seen in the footage, players will explore large open levels to complete story missions and side objectives to improve their squad. They will forge new paths to get out of tough situations while leveling up their commandos with perks, abilities, and gear.

Each commando in the squad has a distinct class with distinct attributes and weapons. For instance, Sergeant Titus Connor shown off in the trailer can be upgraded for a better combat experience. One upgrade increases his bravery while the other regenerates combat points faster. Players must enter combat without breaking stride, and they can slow down time to distribute orders with ease.

In the game, players are tasked with investigating a sinister event that caused a xenomorph outbreak on the moon. They will face off against a variety of xenomorph creatures on their way to stop thousands of deaths, including facehuggers, alien queens, and praetorians. The gameplay involves leading and adopting strategies in different situations. Players must manage their team members' health and sanity to avoid mental breakdowns, a feature that may be familiar to players of theDarkest Dungeongames.

Creating safe zones and leading strategically is crucial to survival. Players can set up motion trackers to receive information about enemies while following a gripping original Alien story. There is no shortage of danger in each chapter, as the game has its own permadeath system. Set in the Alien universe that was introduced with the cult-classic movies, Dark Descent features familiar locations, alien monsters, and new threats.

Lastly, players will build a base to research new tech and improve their troopers with new weapons and gears. Players who pre-order the game for $29.99 before its launch will receive an exclusive black armor set for their Colonial Marines and a feline companion to liven up the decks of the Otago.
