Aldnoah.Zerois an original mecha anime by Studio TROYCA and A-1 Pictures that aired for the first time in 2014. Almost ten years later, a new compilation movie titled ‘Aldnoah.Zero (RE+)’ has been announced. The newAldnoah.Zeromovie is a compilation movie of the 24 episodes in the anime. It will also feature the extra episode, titled ‘Fragments of Rain – The Penultimate Truth’. The movie is scheduled to release on February 28th, 2025. The announcement was made along with a teaser trailer.

Since the anime ended in 2015, this is the first addition to the series. Fans are far from excited and questioned the purpose of this movie on X.

The primary reason why the announcement is being met with disappointment is the downfall of the anime.Aldnoah.Zeroanime started on a strong note, but as the series progressed its flaws started to surface and season 2 was a culmination of all those flaws and poor execution.

The strongest aspect ofAldnoah.Zeroanime was the fight sequences and the animation. The first season was fairly enjoyable and ended on a shocking cliffhanger which kept fans on the edge, eagerly waiting for the second cour’s release. However, the second season was a huge downgrade from its predecessor. The characters in the anime were never as compelling, but season 2 ruined them even further.

For instance, Inaho’s survival didn’t make much sense given his injuries, yet he survived and even received another big power-up. The only striking character was Slaine and even his character arc was far from good in the second season. The fights that were exciting lacked motivation and felt more like an obligation. The new announcement doesn’t help the anime’s case as the movie is going to be a repeat of what fans hate about the series.
