In November last year, Remedy Entertainment revealed that Alan Wake 2 hadrecouped most of its development and marketingcosts. In the company’s latest financial report, the studio revealed that the horror sequel has now become profitable.
Remedy has announced today that Alan Wake 2 has sold (sold not shipped) two million units and, since Q4 2024, has started accruing royalties for the company.

In theinvestors report, Remedy mentioned that along the release of the game’s second expansion, The Lake House, and the release of the physical retail Deluxe Edition, the physical Collector’s Edition, which was shipped to players in December by Limited Run Games, andthe PS5 Pro patch, all contributed to long-term sales of the game.
Remedy has started to accrue royalties from the game sales towards the end of Q4 2024, though an exact figure wasn’t revealed.
In the same report, Remedy mentioned that Max Payne 1 & 2 Remastered and multiplayer game,FBC: Firebreakare in full production, with Control 2 set to enter full production this month.
Remedy Connected Universe With Alan Wake, Control Is “Just Getting Started”
Remedy says it’s too early to talk about endgame stuff regarding Alan Wake and Control’s shared universe.
If there was a game that should be making profit for its developers, Alan Wake 2 should be part of that list. Not only did the game review well, as it managed a “Strong” rating onOpen Criticwith 93% of critics recommending it, but Remedy has been tireless in pushing out updates to the game to add features, squash bugs and more.
Ourown review of the gamewas very generous in its praise, stating, “Alan Wake 2 feels like the culmination of the hard work Remedy has been putting into their distinct style of storytelling for decades now. The writing is clever, the characters are compelling, and the mysteries kept me guessing up until the very end.”
While Remedy hasn’t officially announced Alan Wake 3, that seems to be a lock, especially given Alan Wake 2 is now a confirmed multi-platinum seller, and is now making money for the developer. If that’s announced, perhaps we can expect less jump scares, asRemedy confirmed they might have overdidthat in Alan Wake 2.
