The amount of collectibles inAlan Wake 2is quite impressive - in addition to Cult Stashes, there are also Charms and Words of Power to find. While finding collectibles is reward enough for many players, the added upgrades from locating them are an extra incentive to hunt down these things. Words of Power, for instance, are one of the main ways you upgrade Alan’s abilities throughout the game.
Alan Wake 2: Best Words Of Power Upgrades
Alan Wake 2 offers unique upgrades called Words of Power. Some are fantastic, while others are only ok. This guide breaks down the ones you need.
There are a total of 27 Words of Power to find alone, some of which can only be collected before finishing a certain part of the game. For help getting all of these upgrades for Alan, see our tips on locating Collectibles, Points of No Return, and all 27 locations below.

How To Uncover More Collectible Locations
Alan can see more collectibles by upgrading his Words of Stuff Tourist Map ability. However, there are more tempting options besides (hello extra inventory space). Instead, the best way to see all the Words of Power locations is tofind Sheriff Tim Breakerin each section and examine the map behind him.
All Words Of Power In The Main Plaza
There are six Words of Power in the Main Plaza area - at least one of each except for Words of Stuff.
Words of Fix
Follow the glowing arrow near Casey around a loop - there are Words of Power above the door.
Words of Action
In the Eastern portion of the Main Plaza above Draft Steel, look at the Railroad Track above your head.
Near the trash cans outside Talk Show Studio

Words of Lamp
Use the Angel Lamp on a post to the right of Caldera Subway Station, then head upstairs. After the save point, there is an arrow leading toward Words of Power below.
Words of Gun
Enter the Alley next to Tim Beaker, then climb the ladder. Go right and look between two air conditioning units on the roof.
Words of War
Use the Angel Lamp next to the Police car in the same area as the previous Words of Power, then check the inside wall of the nearby building.

All Words Of Power In The Subway
TheCaldera Subway Stationcontains the most Words of Power found in any single area, at a whopping ten.
As you enter the Caldera Subway Station, look to the right at an abandoned train. Shift reality and look inside the train’s back window.

Words of Aid
After the first save room, head toward the construction materials and follow the arrows to find the Words of Power.
Past the Collapsed Tunnel, you’ll find two smaller ones and a cart. Use the lamp to make the cart disappear - the Words of Power are in the room behind it.

When you enter the Derailed Train section, crawl under the scaffolding and look up at the ceiling.
Enter the Torchbearers Echo, pass through the wrecked train to the room behind, then take the ladder down. Shoot the wooden board that the arrows point toward, and look inside.

Check the far wall of the flooded section at Shrine Street Station. An arrow points towards the correct location.
Inside Shrine Street Station there are two abandoned trains. Use the Angel Lamp to go through the right one, then look inside the one next to you via the window.
During the End of the Line scene, select the Murder Cult Option. Choose the Summoning Ritual theme, then use the Angel Lamp to open an exit to the right. The next room has the Words of Power.
Go up the steps in the room where the previous Words of Power were located. Take the other door (not the save point) to the Collapsed Tunnel Area, but examine the wall behind the metal gate.
All Words Of Power In The Back Alley & Rooftop
To enter the Oceanview Hotel, you’ll need to traverse rooftops and back alleys. In this section, there are four more Words of Power to collect.
After reaching the Oceanview Hotel, before entering the alleyways to get inside, walk down the street on the left of the hotel. On the wall of a building are Words of Power.

In the north of the Rooftop area, walk through a doorway with two downwards-pointing triangles. Look at the water tank to unlock the Words of Power.
From the previous Words of Power, go left down the staircase. Painted on the underside of the stair landing are the Words of Power.

All Words Of Power In The Ocean View Hotel
Entering the Ocean View Hotelmarks the next section of Alan Wake’s story and three new Words of Power locations.
Inside Room 224, there is a wooden board with an arrow pointing to it. Smash the board with a melee and look inside to find the Words of Power.
Look through the glass in the Emergency Exit Door on the Second Floor.
Words of Stuff
Inside the ballroom, look at the wall above the bar.
All Words Of Power In The Poet’s Cinema
As you approach the end, power-ups will get ever more important. Make sure to snag all four Words of Power in the Poet’s Cinema.
Inside the bathroom on the first floor of the cinema, there is a Supply Closet. Look at the ceiling.
On the right wall of the Cinema Lobby, on the second floor.
Outside the theater, approach the Police Car and switch views to walk through the door lit by the headlights and find the Words of Power on the roof.
Next to the previous Words of Stuff, go to the other side of the roof, and climb into the small corridor - you’ll hear Tim humming. On the water tank will be the Words of Power.
The Point Of No Return
Alan has a point of no return baked into his story, which will prevent you from backtracking for some Words of Power (and any other collectibles you missed). To avoid the upset of realizing you’ve missed something in your playthrough, it is advised to collect everything before proceeding past this point. See the spoiler below for more information.
Spoiler AlertAt a certain point in Alan’s story, the player will be tasked with placing a box full of photos of Alice under a Statue in the Main Plaza. This must occur before you head back to the Parliament Hotel. However, placing the photos will automaticallyswitch your perspectiveto Saga, and prevent you from backtracking to the Main Plaza and Subway locations when you later switch back to Alan.
