TheCall of Dutyfranchise has continued the yearly release schedule for nearly two decades now. With indications thatCall of Duty: Black Ops IImightmake its way to Xbox Game Pass, fans have started to look back on the series.

Despitecritical receptionbeing overall positive,Call of Duty: Ghostsdid not live up to the fan base. According to thisReddit user, whileBlack Ops IIwas “perfection,”Ghostswas “a steaming turd in comparison.”

They co-developedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3in 2011 with Infinity Ward. In hopes of bringing something new and fresh to theCall of Dutyseries, expectations were high for the studio.
Advanced Warfaremet a similar fate toGhostswherecritical receptionwas positive but fans were not happy. The introduction ofloot boxesbroke the multiplayer and created this “pay to win” feeling that is still present today, to a degree.

After twoCall of Dutyprojects that did not deliver on fan expectations, Treyarch finally had the ball in their court again and they launchedCall of Duty: Black Ops IIIin 2015.
