COs, or Commanding Officers, are a big part of the fun in Advance Wars.Your choice in CO will fundamentally change how your entire army performs and each one brings powerful CO abilities that can change the ebb and flow of combat.With 19 COs to choose from, there are plenty of options to find a CO that fits how you want to navigate the battlefield.To help you keep track of which COs you still need to unlock, here’s a quick guide to help you find out where to unlock each CO.
How To Unlock All COs
If you’re a veteran of the series, you’re able to breathe a sigh of relief.COs are no longer tied to in-game performance, mission difficulty, or choosing specific COs against others.Instead, additional COs are unlocked by defeating them in specific campaign missions. Once they’ve been defeated, you can then purchase them from Hachi’s store. Here’s a quick run down of how to unlock COs in each game.

Advance Wars 2
The unlock requirements in Advance Wars 2 is similar to AW1 with a few key differences. Some COs are unlocked by just doing 4 missions in their home nation. The Black Hole COs are unlocked after doing a factory mission, which there’s only one of in each nation.

Complete 4 missions in the Blue Moon Nation
Finish Mission 16: Factory Blues
Complete 4 missions in the Yellow Comet nation.
Finish Mission 24: Hunt’s End
Complete 4 Missions in the Green Earth Nation
Finish Mission 32: Great Sea Battle
Finish Mission 34: Final Front
Complete all missions in the Advance Wars 2 campaign.

How To Play Each CO
Once you’ve unlocked a CO, head over to Hachi’s Store and purchase them with the Advance Wars coins you earned from completing missions. After purchasing them, your new CO will be available to use in online multiplayer, local versus, and the war room.
