University is a place where people are mostly short on cash and are absolutely not thinking about buying expensive games on the small budget that they are allotted by their parents.
Activision realises that this could bottleneck their sales in the future, and so it has come up with a free early access bonus for some, but not all, university students that will help the developers market the game further without any loss.
