Final Fantasy 16has finally made its way to PC, courtesy of an official announcement today. Fans are excited to jump into the action. After a long wait, the game is now available for download, with a demo already live for those who want to try it out.

The Steam page forFinal Fantasy 16went live unexpectedly, giving players the chance to experience one of Square Enix’s most technically impressive RPGs right away, via a demo.

This surprise demo drop comes ahead of Gamescom 2024,where many expected the release date to be announced. The release date is now set, and PC players can get their hands on the game via Steam on the 17th of September next month.
WhenFinal Fantasy 16first launched on the PlayStation 5 in June 2023, it quickly became one of the most talked-about games of the year. Known for its epic battles, stunning visuals, and engaging medieval storyline, it stood out even among the high standards of theFinal Fantasyseries.

Although, the game was a little controversial amongst certain fans who didn’t particularly like its Hack n’ Slash gameplay, and the lack of traditional party members. Some others also found it quite lacking in its fetch quests, heavily reminiscent of other MMORPGs.
The demo currently available on Steam covers the opening section of the game, with save data that carries over to the full version, allowing players to seamlessly transition once they decide to buy the game.

This demo includes the Eikonic Challenge mode, which lets players see if the game suits their taste while also testing if their PC can handle the game’s hefty requirements.
The game is known for its massive boss battles, amongst other things, where players control Eikons like Ifrit and Bahamut in epic, and movie-like sequences that are absolutely stunning.

What’s Next for Final Fantasy on PC?
With the PC’s superior hardware capabilities, these fights are expected to look even more spectacular at native 4K and 60FPS, offering players an absolute visual treat that goes beyond what was possible on the PlayStation 5, due to its comparatively lower power.

The move to PC also opened up new possibilities that weren’t available on the console. This transition could also mean enhanced performance, mod support, and more customization options for players, making the experience even more immersive.
The release ofFinal Fantasy 16on PC also brings up questions about the future of the series on the platform. In a previous discussion about the game’s release, the director, Hiroshi Takai, shared his thoughts on the potential for futureFinal Fantasygames to launch simultaneously on both PC and consoles.Could an Xbox port also be a possibilitysometime down the line?

While he couldn’t make any promises, he hinted that this could be a possibility in the future. This aligns with Square Enix’s recent strategy of focusing on quality over quantity and pursuing a multiplatform approach, due to the Playstation exclusive strategy not quite hitting the sales projections.
