As you rip through hoards of enemies on the Dreadnought in Path of Exile II, eventually you will come face to face with Jamanra, The Abomination. This is the final boss of Act 2 andone that will certainly challenge any players unfamiliar with lengthy fights.
Similarly to Count Geonor, this is a two-phase boss fight with various mechanics that shift and warp depending on Jamanra’s remaining health.

Path of Exile 2: How to Beat Count Geonor
If you’re not sure how to get through Ogham Manor, then Path of Exile 2: How to Beat Count Geonor is the guide for you
This guide will go over all the critical attacks that Jamanra will employ, along with some advice to get you through this gauntlet and on to Act 3.

The Lightning Fiend
One of the most important things to understand about this boss is that it’sheavily lightning-themed. Increasing your lightning resistance will put you in great stead if you find yourself dying rather swiftly to his attacks.
The Sisters of Garukhan
If you have reached Jamanra, you will have passed through the Spires of Deshar map. If you raced through, avoiding most of the greyed-out portions of this area, chances are you will have missed the Sisters of Garukhan mini-boss.
Upon interacting with this shrine, you will be swarmed by enemies, though they don’t do a whole lot of damage, and they can be taken out witha couple of strong AoE attacks.

The most important thing is that, once you’ve completed this, you’re awarded10% Lightning Resistance. This isn’t an item, but rather, a permanent buff to your character. (This can be done again in Cruel mode)
While 10% doesn’t sound like a whole lot, when stacked with other buffs, soon, you won’t be taking much damage at all from Jamanra.

Items and Resistances
Another fantastic source of Lightning protection comes from the items that you find all over Path of Exile 2’s maps.If you ever find a Topaz Charm, then consider equipping it for a25% increase in lightning resistance when you take damage.A topaz ring can offer a similar buff also.
Another way you can get elemental resistance is through modifying your armour. By using currencies like Orbs of Transmutation and Augmentation, you can upgrade gear from normal white rarity to blue, and then to yellow with a Regal Orb.Often, this can imbue your items with strong elemental resistances.

Path of Exile 2: Best Gear Farming Methods
Get geared up fast!
Or if you don’t have much in the way of orbs, try looking through the shop back at base. This refreshes every time you gain a level, so it’s always worth a look.
If you’re still struggling after this, you may want to use an artificer’s orb on your gear, and slot in somestorm runes for lightning defence or iron runes to buff your armour or evasion. In Path of Exile 2, every little bit of protection helps.
Build Quality
At this point in the campaign, the build you’re going for should be starting to take shape. But if it’s not, this is a good time to do some research and sharpen your ideas.
ensure you’re using your orbs to improve your weapon, as Jamanra has quite a sizable health pool. In addition, ensure that you are using support gems that help your skills, instead of hindering them. You can use the DPS numbers beside your abilities to test whether or not your support gems are helping.
Alternatively, you can go onMobalyticsand use one of the build guides. This helped me when I was trying to build an Ice Strike Monk.
Making sure you have good support gemsalongside sensible investments in your skill tree is essential.
If in doubt, don’t be afraid to go back to The Hooded One and refund some of your Skill points. It may seem like information overload at this point, but you may type in what you’re looking for on the passive tree screen and build in a specific direction. For example, you may be looking for Critical Strike Chance or Attack Speed buffs.
At this point, locking in your build is going to be critical, especially as you approach your next set of ascendancy points.
Consider using some cold attacks in your build, as Jamanra has a weakness to this style.
Jamanra Phase One
Once you have your build sorted out, and a good selection of lightning resistances, you’ll be ready to tackle Jamanra.
Consider investing in a good pair of boots that offer movement speed. As is custom in basically every PoE2 boss fight, you’re going to be moving around a lot here.
Here are some of the most important moves to look out for:
Attack Name
Description
How to Avoid
Close Range Whip
When you are near Jamanra, he will whip you with a lash of lightning.
You can bait him into performing this attack by standing in front of him and them and then rolling behind.
Long Range Spear
If you are attacking from afar, Jamanra will hurl a spear of lightning at your position, dealing medium damage.
You can attack once and then roll and attack again. Don’t stand in one place for too long, or you’ll be targeted.
Arc-Lightning
Jamanra will shoot twin beams of lightning in front of him and then spread his arms wide to cover a 180-degree area.
Roll beneath the beams and try and get behind him as fast as possible to avoid this move.
Static Totems
Two totems that are connected by electricity will begin to roam around the arena.
This can be avoided simply by rolling under them as they come close.
Focused Totems
This attack is similar, but instead, the totems will hunt you down, dashing towards you.
It’s best to stop attacking here. Movement is key. Try moving around in a circle, and roll under the lightning when needed or else you’ll take a lot of damage.
Totem Crush
Jamanra will summon another two totems, but this time they will h9ver in the air and slam into the ground, causing electricity to spread across the arena.
Move away as fast as you may, and get behind Jamanra if necessary.
Special Attack
At some point in the first phase, around 75% depending on how fast you’re dealing damage,Jamanra will summon a devastating sandstorm that covers the entire stadium.
While it won’t seem too bad at first, after a few seconds of being blasted by the wind, you’ll start taking tremendous amounts of damage, sending you to your doom before you can blink.
At this point, Asala, your companion, will project a large semicircular shield that you need to get behind. Don’t worry, it took me a few befuddled attempts before I realised I needed to do this.
While you’re being protected by the shield, little crawling monsters will spawn, and you need to deal with them fast. Be very careful not to be dragged out of the shield’s range while you’re fighting these extra enemies, as you’ll die extremely fast when unprotected.
The shield will cover a large horizontal area of the stage, so you can move back and forth without worry.
Jamanra Phase Two
Once you’ve got Jamanra down to around 50% health, he will stop taking damage as the next phase begins. Sit back and watch as he slices the entire Dreadnought in half, causing you to fall into a dark sandy pit.
This next part of the fight can get a little bit crazy if you aren’t prepared as Jamanra will completely change up his moveset and flood the arena with environmental hazards.Again, make sure you’re moving around a lot. Finding space and luring the boss to you is key here.
Try and find a Lifer Flask with a lot of charges, or with a modifier that allows it to replenish charges over time. This is a drawn-out fight, and your Hitpoints will be whittled away over time.
Physical Moves
Vertical Sword Slam
Jamanra will raise up a sword and hold it above his head for a short period of time, before slamming it down into the ground.
This attack is deliberately delayed, often causing you to roll before you should. Instead, wait about a second after he begins the animation and then roll away. If you’re close to him, you may easily roll behind and avoid this.
Horizontal Halberd Swipe
While the last attack was targeted directly in front of Jamanra, this one will arc around him.
Here you are forced to step back out of range, or once again, try and get behind him to avoid the swipe.
Ten Thousand Spears
You will notice Jamanra raise his arms above him and spawn an arc of spears in the air. One by one, these will target you.
Simply stop attacking and run away. If you roll you may be caught by the last couple of spears.
Environmental Hazards
While Jamanra’s moveset may be pretty small and easy to avoid, the most difficult thing you’ve got to keep an eye on is the hazards that constantly spawn throughout the fight.
As his health pool gets lower and lower, the arena will become flooded with things to avoid, meaning that sometimes you’ll end up simply running and dodging rather than fighting.
Focus on threading the needle, and finding yourself space to attack or to heal. This fight is a marathon, not a sprint.
At the start of the fight, a huge tornado will spawn. While this tornado isn’t exactly fast-moving, it does take up a lot of space. If you stand in it for too long, it will wipe out your hitpoints very fast.
Simply roll through it, and keep an eye on where it is during the fight.
Electrical Blockade
This attack is straightforward, but once again limits space. Jamanra will summon two pillars from the ground that are connected by a beam of lightning, similar to the totems.
The difference is, that these pillars are stationary. You can roll through them or run around them, just don’t stand too close when fighting the boss.
Lightning Bolts & Orbs
Periodically, lightning will strike the surrounding ground. Shown by thin yellow beams. Sometimes these can spawn orbs that travel across the arena and a straight line.
Once more, simply move out of the way, and stay away from the roaming lightning.
Storm Portals
During the final phase of the fight, with around 25% Hitpoints left, Jamanra will perform his final deadly attack. Two portals will spawn that shoot out spears of lightning, slicing the arena up into 4 quadrants.
Don’t stand in the hail of electricity, or you will die very swiftly. Instead, try to find the larger of the 4 sections and drag Jamanra in that direction to fight him safely. You may need to roll through the streams of projectiles to dodge other environmental hazards that get in the way. While the portals can despawn, Jamanra will simply respawn them in a new location.
While nothing in this fight is going to kill you in one shot, everything put together makes it a pain to stand in any one section without taking at least a little bit of damage.
Again, this fight is a marathon, and as such, making sure you are sensible with your flask charges is crucial.Unlike the Count Geonor fight, there aren’t many opportunities to refill your flask here. While it is certainly unforgiving, after a few attempts, the safe areas where you can stand become all the more apparent.
Eventually, after bashing your head against this boss for a while, you will emerge victorious, and Asala will not-so-gracefully decapitate this monster before he can utter another annoying voice line.
