Some gamers brush off Easter eggs as pointless distractions, best left for the try-hards with too much time on their hands. But are you sure about that?

Because there’s something undeniably fun about stumbling across a weird developer message, random references to your favorite movies, or some cryptic wall scribble that makes you laugh, tilt your head, or just wonder what kind of energy drink the devs were sipping when they made it.

Grand Theft Auto Hardest Missions Ranked

Personally, I thinkEaster eggs are one of the coolest, most underrated things a game can include. And when it comes to doing them right, no one does it better thanGTA. You’ve got UFOs snatching players, conspiracy theories about Bigfoot on Mount Chiliad, and so many hidden details that either hit you with nostalgia, catch you off guard with how bizarre they are, or just outright roast you for finding them.

10 Hardest GTA Missions, Ranked

From Wrong Side of the Tracks to Death Row, here are some of the most challenging missions of all time in GTA.

Rockstar has a gift for planting things that make you pause the game and go,“Wait… what?”From fake moon landing sets in Vice City to NPCs straight-up clowning on you for poking around where you shouldn’t, GTA’s Easter eggs aren’t just filler, they’re part of the fun.

Literal Easter Egg

So, whether you’re in it for the nostalgia, the absurdity, or the smug satisfaction of finding something most players miss, these are the best GTA Easter eggs you’ll want to hunt down.

10The Literal Easter Egg

Weirdly Unexpected

When looking for an Easter egg, what do you guys expect to find? Some old prop? A creepy ghost? Or maybe some type of cryptic message on the wall, right? I do too, but I never expected to find a literal Easter egg, like the one in GTA Vice City.

When on top of the downtown helipad apartment, you’ll see a building next to you with windows, one of which you can clip through. Once inside, you will see a brown Easter egg with the word “Happy Easter” on it, and what’s really dope about this one is, if you go to the same location in Vice City Stories, the same egg will be there, but under construction. Dead serious.

OG Trio

Rockstar really went literal with this one, but I can’t be mad. An actual Easter egg is pretty slick.

9The San Andreas Trio

Guys In Green

For someone like us who grew up in Grove Street, beefin' with ballas, protecting each other, and staying loyal to the green color, it was cool seeing GTA V show some love to the OGs from San Andreas.

During the “Hood Safari” mission, Franklin, Trevor, and Lamar head over to Grove Street to settle some business. Right before you roll up there, you’ll see three NPCs riding their BMXs in fits that look really similar to those ofRyder, CJ, andSmoke. Obviously, this is a nod to the legends that made the Grove great.

12 Best GTA Cheat Codes, Ranked

From spawning attack helicopters to amphibious cars.

It’s the kind of Easter egg that takes you back to your childhood. And the good thing is,you don’t have to go out of your way to find it,it’s right there in front of you, and anyone who grew up with San Andreas can catch the reference in an instant.

8Apartment 3C

When I think of Easter eggs, the first thing that comes to my mind is some kind of reference to another movie or video game. It’s always cool when devs sneak in a little love for the stuff that inspired them, and Apartment 3C is definitely one of the best. I

t’s a shout-out to theiconic apartment scene from Scarface, where Tony Montana watches his friend get hacked up by the Colombian drug dealers.

apartment 3c

In Ocean Beach, you can find the same room from the movie, the same interior, blood on the bathroom walls, and even a chainsaw. It may seem disturbing at first glance, but for Scarface fans, it’s the perfect tribute —a brutal, blood-soaked homage to one of cinema’s most iconic moments.

7Scooter Brothers

Blast From The Past

When switching to Trevor in GTA V, there’s a very small chance that you will see him following an NPC on a scooter, yelling“Scooter brothers!”, which is a throwback for anyone who grew up in Liberty City.

The entire moment is just Rockstar tipping their hat to the legendary YouTube clip of a creator yelling “Scooter brother!” while impersonating Will Scarlet fromRobin Hood: Prince of Thieves, simply because he is happy to see another scooter on the road.

It’s amazing to see Rockstar giving the community a nod like that–you know, back when they really cared. But with so many hilarious moments nowadays, I wonder if we will get to see something like this in GTA 6. I really hope so.

6UFO 100% Completion Easter Egg

Obsession With UFOs

You can find spaceships or aliens in almost every Rockstar game, but all of this has been in the shadows and only circulated as myths and rumors. That is, until GTA V made green guys the norm.

And one of the sickest examples of this is if you 100% the game and head over to Mount Chilliad at night. You will see a glowing UFO just chilling over the sky.

You can’t shoot it down or board it or anything, but just standing there, watching it hover in the rain? That alone gives you chills.

10 Best Celebrity Cameos In GTA

From Dr. Dre to Ricky Gervais, these are the best celebrity appearances across the GTA series.

Rockstar has slowly given up on keeping these things hidden and just straight upstarted using them to their fullest, which is pretty cool. In my opinion, they should’ve made this change a long time ago.

5The Alien Egg Supply Mission

Steal From The Aliens

I don’t know why, but Rockstar loves anything that has something to do with extraterrestrials, and at this point, GTA Online has so much going on,secret UFO missionsand haunted bunkers barely raise an eyebrow now.

When you complete more than 600 supply missions for your bunker, there is a small chance to trigger an Alien Theme supply mission, and no cap, it turns the boring old bunker missions into something really rad, even for Online standards. Once at the steal spot, you will see a wrecked saucer, some military vehicles, and dead soldiers, and it feels like you are in Area 51.

As soon as you pick what you came for, aliens drop in and start blasting you. It’s eerie, it’s chaos, and it’s really fun fighting those little green guys. For once, playing the actual mission instead of just paying to complete it seems like the better option.

4The Bigfoot

The Longest Running Easter Egg

I am sure many of you reading this have experienced when the samechildhood where rumors of Bigfoot in GTA San Andreashad us freaked out. They were so effective that even now, Mount Chilliad in San Andreas seems sketchy to me. There were hundreds of videos on how to find Bigfoot. Of course, none of those were real, but it got so much attention that Rockstar decided to add the Bigfoot in GTA V.

GTA V: 10 Best Mods To Install

These are must-have mods to enhance gameplay, graphics, and realism.

In the mission “Predator,” when you switch over to Michael and use his thermal sniper scope, you can spot Bigfoot in the woods just chilling there, which confirms his existence, and later, you even get to hunt him down in Mount Chilliad, only to find some weirdo in a Bigfoot costume.

It’s pretty normal now in GTA Online, but what’s really cool about the whole Bigfoot thing is that it’s the longest-running Easter egg in the franchise, which started as players using mods to stir up some hype, and it somehow ended up being canon in the GTA universe.

3The Gant Bridge

Rockstar Humor At Its Finest

GTA is packed with Easter eggs hidden in alleys, inside buildings, or under the map, so it’s only natural for players to go out of their way and spend years to find some kind of reference or a hidden message. Rockstar being Rockstar give those players a shout-out on top of the Gant Bridge in San Andreas.

There is no reason for anyone to ever go on top of the bridge, unless, of course, you are looking for some type of Easter egg. Once on top, you are met with a sign that says“There are no Easter Eggs up here. Go Away.”Classic Rockstar, trolling the players for even looking, an Easter egg on its own.

2GTA III Developers Breaking The 4th Wall

Off-Limit Message.

This was my first taste of Rockstar’s sense of humor, and it’s still one of my favorites. When doing the“Kingdom Come”mission in GTA 3, you can jump over a wall in the parking lot by placing and climbing two cars next to it.

Once there, you can see a message from the developers on the wall, which says,“You were not supposed to be here, you know”.Seeing the devs wink at you from behind the curtain for the first time was a nice surprise. But this Easter egg isn’t top-tier simply because it broke the 4th wall, but becausethe sign got updated three times.

Discover the top 10 best GTA V Online heists ranked for max payout, fun, and strategy.

If you swing by the same spot in the PSP version of Liberty City Stories, the sign says“Hello Again!”And if you roll up there in the GTA 3 Definitive Edition, the sign says“You just can’t get enough of this alley, can you?”.It’s the only Easter egg to get updated like this, which obviously makes it worth visiting again and again.

1The Heart Of Liberty City

Statue Of Happiness

Out of all the hidden gold in Liberty City, the statue of happiness might be the coolest one. It’s a little messed up, but absolutely hilarious at the same time.

However, what I love the most about it is the unapologetic middle finger from the developers to Hillary Clinton, who was against the release of the game because it corrupts the youth or whatever.Sheended up being the face of the statue, which is wild and a clear “You don’t own us”type of statement from Rockstar.

Something that isn’t as funny, but rather weird, is that if you go up the base viewing platform of the statue, you’ll see a no-collision door, which leads you to the secret of the statue–a huge beating heart wrapped in chains. Is it for Hillary Clinton? Or maybe a secret message? No one has any clue, but it’s cool.
